You can play football, beach volleyball and table tennis at the Hostel. There are a quiet corner for reading, a disco, barbecue and bonfire sites. The Youth Hostel also provides padded mats that are mainly used for martial arts such as Judo or for Yoga. Our Youth Hostel is ideal for family holidays and has been certified as a Family Hostel. A real alternative to a family hotel for a holiday on the Edersee lake.
Waldeck Youth Hostel is a starting point or stopover for many different fabulous cycling tours. The Hostel has been certified as a Bed&Bike Youth Hostel by the General German Bicycle Club. In December 2005, the stretch of road and cycling route between West Waldeck (Youth Hostel) to the barrage was finalised. This made it possible to do a full tour around the Edersee. The route around Edersee is about 55 km long. The Edersee Cycling Route (which connects with the long-distance cycling routes R5 and R6) takes you through one of the most beautiful low-mountain landscapes in Germany and offers huge variety. It is suitable for young and old cyclists, trained athletes and those who are still aspiring to become ones. However, we do not recommend all of the route for racing bikes. On the south side, in the Kellerwald-Edersee national park, part of the cycling route leads along natural tracks.

The Eder river and the landscapes around it, which are the most pristine Hesse has to offer, are best discovered by bike or on foot. A good tip for cyclists is the Ederauen Cycling Route (from the source to the estuary of the Eder, more information on www. adfc.de), and both cyclists and hikers will enjoy the Ederauen adventure trail, which is part of this route. The Ederauen adventure trail (from Edersee lake to Fritzlar) is currently about 20 km long. The path leads along the river all the way. There are a number of stops along the way with information relating to the river, such as information on water quality, fish pass, bridges and dams along the Eder, gold panning, meditation etc.
